My journey as a drum maker began in 1997. Where I learned the craft from a friend. Though, it felt less like learning and more like remembering. The process came naturally, as if my hands already knew the way. There was a quiet familiarity in shaping the wood, stretching the hide, and listening for the pulse that would one day become the heartbeat of the drum.

 

A year later, in 1998, I became a Reiki Master, and in 2011 I completed the Karuna Reiki Master training with William Lee Rand. The deepening of my Reiki practice naturally began to weave into my drum making. Both are, in their own ways, paths of healing, intention and connection.

 

In 2010, a small group of friends wanted to make drums, and I offered to guide them. What began as a friendly gathering turned into my very first workshop. And from that day forward, drum making became a living part of my path. Not long after, a friend encouraged me to share my work at a booth, and to my surprise and joy, the drums found their people. I’ve continued ever since.

 

I don’t mass-produce my drums. Each one is created with care, intention and reverence; honoring the animals and trees who have given their gifts.

 

I handpick every hide, and as I sand and shape each frame, I infuse it with Reiki energy, allowing that sacred current to flow into the spirit of the drum itself.

 

On the Winter Solstice of 2011, Palma and I were married; two soulmates brought together by love and spirit. She also became a Reiki Master in 1998, and together we continue to walk this path of creation, healing and harmony. Every drum I make carries a piece of that journey; a prayer, a remembrance and a heartbeat.

Whether it’s created in ceremony, made during a workshop, or crafted for a specific person or purpose, the intention remains the same: to bring healing, connection, and balance through sound.
